On a guardian kick! Here's Warp! He's the Dencarl of RubySoar, and loves music!
Though he's mostly known for being a Guardian who destroyed his Charge and replaced whatever or whoever it was with his Thane. Nobody is sure what his Charge once was, but he claims that RubySoar is all he needs to protect.
RubySoar and Warp are great friends, though Warp really misses his old friend Combine, who was killed in combat against a perceived traitor.
Family is limited for him, as his own mother was imprisoned as a class NE prisoner in Lavaflow. Though that same fact isn't well known
My kofi is here if you want to support me, and my commissions are open! Feel free to DM me!

All current issues in Sornieth (as far as I can get from the encyclopedia, and in no particular order)
The Shade is free and active (as of Epilogue: Flight Rising, reinforced in several other stories)
Infighting among the Oculus of the Eleven - inter-flight distrust is seemingly quite high (as of BotE: Ten Eyes)
Large strike/rebellion in the Ashfall Waste (as of BotE: Temper, Temper)
Portal connection between Tangled Wood and Sunbeam Ruins (as of BotE: Kindred Crossing, reinforced in Unveiled)
Suspicious disappearances in Earth Flight excavations (as of BotE: Ancient Fascinations) (I did not have the chance to participate in Dustcarve Dig, but from what I've been able to read on the site itself, these disappearances, while part of the setup, were never resolved)
(Intentional) destruction of the Stormcatch Sanctum (as of BotE: Workplace Hazards)
High tension between the Nature and Plague Flights, due to the breaking of the Armistice by use of The First Seed. Plague ambassador has still not been found, and has taken The Final Infection with her. Implied to be part of a larger conspiracy. (as of BotE: The Seed and The Sickness)
Tidelord is missing, and no divination magic can currently be practiced. (as of BotE: Hear Today, Gone Tomorrow, reinforced in Mixed Elements, Echoes of the Deep, and Unfathomable Oddyssey)
There is a three-headed Emperor (Luminax) in the Sunbeam Ruins. (as of BotE: Raising A Family)
Major change in the energies of Auraboan nests due to the events of The Seed and The Sickness, allowing younger Auraboas to experience linear time, and causing a worrying partial disconnect from the Loop. (as of Ancient Arboriculture Observations and the Auraboa breed article)

Got a rude response from someone I reblogged from so I'm making my own post about Ice Flight because um--
Hey Ice Flight can be pretty cool actually and be different from the rest of the flights, and this post is gonna be my two cents about it. I've seen people go around just summing it up as "cops" when just like every other Flight they can be so much more?
While first, I do agree that Ice’s aesthetic is kinda weak as is. Not a lot you can do with the same winter themes over and over with the occasional broken chain motif. I’d love to see people get creative to what they think Ice represents and how they contribute to Sornieth’s systems, cultures, and dragons as a whole.
I see ice flight specializing in stuff like collection and cataloguing as iirc before the map update it said those were things Ice Flight likes. I think where Earth is Uncovering What Was, Ice is about Preserving What Is.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ab4ceeb1b51254b8bfacaad999f1b3bb/098f9b354c39fbbf-af/s540x810/6bd201aa6aafd82c412fe8806a1b6cc2b6a9a77e.jpg)
They’re not entirely just cops (and even then stripping them to just the role of "cop" is a bad take). They’re also researchers of the things they fear, and of relics that need studying. In my head Ice would probably have the best museums, archives, and storage houses. What better way to preserve or trap something than in ice?
They’re a flight of Order, not so much in the sense of cops and law but a flight that bulks when there’s a sense of disorder or chaos, disorganization, and imperfection. If it’s uncategorized, unsorted, then it needs to be so in order to be learned. Where Lightning is stats and progression, Ice is pattern recognition (Tundra’s memory being linked to their smell may also reflect this) and tradition (Gaolers role system and lack of awareness about the state of Sornieth and not just the Ice Fields).
This can be extended then into interests, individual home cultures, businesses and what not. Why not start a collection of rocks? Or insects? They’d know best how to preserve it. Need something specific from the shop? Probably very easy to find if you know the qualities and traits you’re looking for. Need something preserved for safe keeping? They’ll do that, and they’ll do it awfully well. Perfectly. The systems have to be perfect. The line up has to be perfect and up-kept and looked after intensely— possibly so intense it’s evolving into passion. There can certainly be a sense of pride.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/5f8c5d3c0d8ef1d276dc589530930141/098f9b354c39fbbf-b8/s540x810/c2fa619851f0b3096c3bc6fc42e6d95f83468e20.jpg)
Combine with the lore that Ice is typically more hostile to outsiders due to their melting home I can see them being much more traditional and closed off. Not quite isolated, but having a more unique culture that’s a little more closed off from others and not quite as shared, trying to preserve what is left of their home and traditions.
What about urban legends and superstition? They’re guarding creatures and horrors in those prisons, surely the local resident dragons have folklore over that? What about fishing and hunting, two very popular ways to get food or supplies in climates like these? Where are the ice fisherman skins or hunters bound in furs? What about the fauna or flora found in the region we can probably make skins for that too.
Existential horror can also be fun; remember, relatively recently Gaolers learned that Sornieth has changed. Dragons of other flights have other magic not native to their elements and in addition the age old threat of Shade that seems to be making new problems for new times.
We have a flight literally dealing first hand with monsters and horrors existing already on the planet and in its own prisons and fighting against it, yet people relegate that to Arcane. 😔 Unlike Arcane, the unknown is already here in Ice.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/96f6b996e89979e22514fa432ec626c9/098f9b354c39fbbf-12/s540x810/17bfe6ac090009f56a38332793c775875ffd3f44.jpg)
You could easily take inspiration from the movie The Thing, too. It writes itself ngl.
Theres much to do and think about with Ice when you remember this is a region with its own people and culture and not just an aesthetic, and I’d like to see it dabbled in more. Even if it’s just headcanon, you can make it into a skin. That’s what people have done with Light with the whole angelic themes, so why not take creative spins on ice too?
Give ice some headcanon love like y’all do with Arcane and Light. Those flights aren’t about eldritch horror or angels but there’s endless skins for them about it. Give ice some of that same ole love too 💕

Lightning Flight has the phrase, "Don't trust lightning that doesn't strike twice." The phrase is akin to 'waiting for the other shoe to drop' and with Lightning citizens being so used to multiple, rapid succession lightning strikes due to the multitude of metal spires, each bolt is met with anticipation for the one that usually follows. Outside of Lightning this phrase isn't popular, due to the previous.
#flight rising#world building wednesday#thought it was a fun turning of the tables for our myth of lightning not striking the same place twice#flight rising lore#Lightning Flight#its late but it isn't rollover for 10 minutes so its still wednesday

I know my way through the night to your door You know the blood that I'm owed is all yours The wishes I've made are too vicious to tell The devil already he knows me so well And if it's true I'll go there with you And you once said, "I wish you dead, you sinner" I'll never be more than a wolf at your door for dinner...
Well, that didn't take very long, did it? Eve was my 10 year FR anniversary hatch, and I scattered her into a double coral earlier today.
and well, NotN was very kind to me.
An opportunistic scavenger who's called Dragonhome her hunting grounds since her birth, Eve has prowled the tunnels beneath Earth territory for quite some time, mapping ancient ruins and seeking cities previously thought to be simple myth.
Noted loyalist to The Harvestmaster and thus not above swindling and theft for the pursuit of knowledge, Eve's presence near the Wicked Dig is that of a wildcard, a spoiler candidate in it only for herself.
Those with keen eyes will be quick to detect this quirk of personality, however, as the armor coating her single arm and 'skeletal' baubles are all carved and pearlescent- stolen trophies, maps made from the minds of those with knowledge she desired- and parted them with, violently.

A few years ago, I went through a phase where I tried writing dragon nursery rhymes for lore, lol. They’re pretty old, but there are still a few I like.

I got a real treat for you guys today, they are a one of kind thing in my hatchery, Lore Hatchlings. To be specific opt-in lore kids.
My friend @spontaneite-fr started breeding for Malign Fortune years ago and I took over the last end sprint, bred them both and gened them. Still took me over half a year. Since the project seems a little bit cursed, Spont ran with that idea and created lore about an cursed gold hoard and the two Imperials that are part of it, so amazing even I wanna have a lore hatchling of them down the road.
Find my hatchery and the link to the rest of the lore in the reblog!

Oh my god, staff.....
This auraboa issue with the lore being (most likely) unintentionally racist is especially maddening to me, because the concept they seem to want to portray (based purely on the encyclopedia entry) is very similar to an OC I have, and so I can say with experience, it's incredibly difficult to convey! ESPECIALLY when you try to portray it inside a short story where you're cutting lines for word count (their forum reply mentioned they left out some lines to keep it short)
Instead of getting across the concept the encyclopedia entry seems to allude to, the short story just accidentally walks into like 10 racism rakes in a row and its truly agonizing for me to watch, knowing what i assume the actual lore's intent is.
encyclopedia quote: "Older generations of Auraboa existed in a constant state of communion with their fellows. They refer to this connection as The Loop. In this persistent state they perceive time and memory in a non-linear manner; their intertwined considerations for past and present events are such that it became difficult for a dragon outside The Loop to grasp the intentions of these ancient wyrms."
what seems to be the intention is that the auraboa are a hivemind that doesn't experience time the same way other dragons do- they experience past, present, and future all at once and thus cannot communicate well NOT because they have a different language, but because they aren't experiencing TIME ITSELF in the same fashion as the dragons! However, in practice, in the story, the auraboa seem to speak with words in the proper order, just haltingly, since otherwise the story itself couldn't work at all.
another encyclopedia bit: "The newest generation of Auraboa is not linked to The Loop in their waking hours. While they move through the world, they are less directly accessible and read as "silent" to Auraboa who are within the communal state. This disconnection has allowed the young Auraboa to experience time in a linear fashion, and with this new understanding they have begun to form connections with other species of dragon that have never before been possible."
The encyclopedia seems more clear about the Linear Time thing, and that being why they can actually communicate sensibly, but in the act of having a story where the older ones DO communicate with the outside dragons and get a point across, they've kind of not shown the reason why dragons and auraboa COULDNT communicate before! which is! a big thing!
If they'd implemented the auraboa speaking with everything in the wrong order instead of halting single words at a time, i feel like the intention would get across better. As it is, it just smacks them directly into the 'simple native' stereotype with a truly awful tripping into the 'having our kids be taught by outsiders' which is. a really wretched parallel, as many native people have spoken of the unimaginable violence of residential schools.
I feel like the encyclopedia entry Alone isn't nearly as awful (still not great, but not as bad) as the extremely poorly implemented story that managed to ddr dance onto a bunch of horrible tropes.
they were literally so bad at conveying the fact that the auraboa are a hivemind that is unmoored from time, that i see people misinterpreting the lore as auraboa having their own weird language that other dragons can't understand! there was not enough effort put into conveying the ideas they tried to convey, and what WAS put forward was literally chock full of the most unfortunate parallels physically possible.
#flight rising#auraboa#fr auraboa#fr#fr lore#flight rising lore#tl;dr i dont think the lore itself is actually that bad purely based on the encyclopedia#but they sure as hell need to better explain it#because the story was THE WORST EXAMPLE POSSIBLE AND SOOO UNINTENTIONALLY RACIST IT HURTS

"Oh but they don't fit Light at all, how are they Light?!"
While I suspect that a lot of people are just saying this to not have to say the quiet part (fatphobia) out loud, here's some actual reasons on why they fit Light, since I think a lot of people have gotten lost in fanon/headcanon Light themes.
"The Light dragons of the Sunbeam Ruins are philosophers. They prefer to be unbiased and logical, revealing the nature of the world as do the rays of the sun. Of all the dragons, Light dragons are the most scholarly, holding the pursuit of truth as the highest virtue a dragon might aspire to. Scrolls and relics are their favored treasures." - Light Flight description (emphasis mine)
Now let's look at the Everlux lore...
"This tiny breed exists in large social groups, with individuals colloquially referred to as "bookwyrms" due to their love of the written word. Most have remained in a series of massive, woven cocoon-like structures in the woods near Emperor's Wake where they have maintained extensive archives of scrolls, tomes, and parchments." - "Overview" on the Everflux Encyclopedia Page (emphasis mine)
"While their curving wings are fragile, they are also a point of vanity. Everlux take great pride in maintaining their beautiful colors and patterns, though they take care to discourage comparing one's individual appearance to another's." - "Physical Attributes" on the Everlux Encyclopedia Page (emphasis mine)
"Recording and sharing knowledge is a cornerstone of Everlux society and they value the thrill of sharing information of all types! While Everlux dragons meticulously catalog historical records and indexes of verifiable facts, they place just as much importance on sharing personal experiences, opinions, passions, and idle curiosities. As a result of this drive to satiate the mind and connect with past, present, and future loved ones, each Everlux makes a ritual of chronicling their daily lives. While the primary archive in Sunbeam Ruins was filled with historical facts, records, and other vital teachings, an overwhelming majority of it was filled with tomes from all the Everlux in times gone by. There is no hard and fast rule about how much or how often one should record their day-to-day, but all seek to write down what they find to be notable. Thus, an Everlux dragon's life is often split into literal "chapters". It's up to the individual to determine when they have moved on to a new segment of their life; many do so at similar milestones (births and deaths, unions, new studies, etc), but anyone can deem a moment to be the "right" time to close one chapter and open another. These transitions are often marked by a celebration, even if the change that prompted it was grim or difficult in nature. Everlux take joy and comfort in sharing all parts of life with their clan, especially during dark times. Many of these celebrations take the form of a symposium, where Everlux gather to connect, feast, and engage in prompted discussions or friendly debates." - "Social" on the Everlux Encyclopedia Page (emphasis mine)
"Oh but I meant they don't fit in aesthetically, they don't look like Imperials or Pearlcatchers." Ignoring the high chance of fatphobia there, if dragons from the same flight all had to look like eachother we would NOT have a lot of the dragons we do now. Say goodbye to Skydancers, Obelisks, Banescales, Undertides, Fathoms, Veilspun, Sandsurges... arguably even Auraboa and Aberrations. I see people complaining about "this breed is just [breed] 2" all the time, but now that there's a new fat dragon suddenly they need to look similar to their (thin) predecessors? I don't buy that. (Yeah, I know I said I would ignore the fatphobia in this section, but it's not something you really can ignore in this conversation.)
So, "how are they light?". I think it's more pertinent to ask "why would they not be light?". If anything, their lore, out of all of light's dragon breeds, corresponds closest with the flight theming and tenets. You guys are just mean :(
